The first half of the story has ample action, but it takes time to gather momentum and draw you in. Gulshan Devaiah has impressed with his performances in the past, but here, he doesn’t quite stand up to the barbaric and menacing character (Buraq Ansari).Īditya Datt’s ‘Commando 3’ uses cliché tropes that action thrillers with such subjects usually do, like the hero making a grand entry while a girl is being harassed by a man, scenes replete with loaded patriotic dialogues and many such. But, it’s refreshing to see the women kick some butt, in tandem with the action boys in a hardcore action film. The leading ladies, Adah Sharma and Angira Dhar, too, pack a punch, though sometimes it seems like they are trying too hard.

Vidyut Jammwal as Commando Karanveer Singh Dogra scores on every action scene, taking it a notch higher - with his smooth and slick kicks, punches and back flips – it’s undoubtedly a sure-shot adrenaline rush.

What works is that the third instalment of the series stays true to its core – it delivers heavy-duty action, with raw hand-to-hand combat and swift chases. It will take some nerve to sit through those. The violence in 'Commando 3' is brutal, bloody and graphic in some scenes. The duo receives able support from their British counterpart, Mallika Sood (Angira Dhar) in this mission. In a bid to avert the impending terrorist attack, the bureau ropes in Karanveer Singh Dogra (Vidyut Jammwal), who is accompanied by Bhavana Reddy (Adah Sharma), to get to the root of the plan and bring the culprit to justice. REVIEW: 'Commando 3' gets into the thick of things right at the beginning when a police office chases down a group of misled youngsters, which, in turn, leads to a bigger revelation. STORY: Upon realising that a massive terror attack is underway, the Indian Special Forces send their best Commando, Karanveer Singh Dogra, to London to nab the mastermind. Guess what, at times at least, he succeeds. And Vidyut Jammwal executes his stunts with a superhumanly fast and furious speed in the hope that his antics will take our mind off the asinine plot. Gulshan Devaiah seems to be having a ball as an OTT villain. Both get to spout punch dialogue and their confrontation scenes sound like measuring contests. The hero too is a die-hard Desh bhakti who treats every situation like a suicide mission. He hasn't been given a backstory so we don't get to know the reason for the hatred burning in his heart. The villain is shown to be a self-obsessed psycho. Hence there are no songs or romantic interludes to break the monopoly of action. It's not that the girls don't drop enough hints, it's just that our hero isn't exactly interested in them. But strangely director Aditya Datt chooses not to take that route. Having a macho hero sandwiched between two hot as well as hot-headed heroines leaves plenty of room for romantic alliances, not to mention bouts of rivalry between the girls. They punch and kick with much gusto and team-up nicely together, doing their bit for girl power. The two girls aren't mere eye candy either but are given action scenes of their own to execute.

Your eyes remain glued to the screen whenever he's in his element.

To give the actor credit, he has put his all in the hand-to-hand combat scenes, making them as real as possible. Apart from the above-mentioned scene, there is another fight scene worth mentioning where Vidyut overcomes two knife-wielding mercenaries. Raw, visceral action is the film's biggest USP and it milks it to the last drop. Mind you, the sight of Vidyut Jammwal using gym equipment to bash out the baddies does make for good clean fun. To make sure you get it, our hero is made to battle a bunch of Hindu pehelwans who have taken to eve-teasing as a side sport. While the film is as jingoistic as they come, the makers have made sure to add enough scenes involving the good Muslims to point out that the film is only against bad elements in any community. Just brawns aren't enough, the good guys have to utilize their brains as well to come on top. A game of cat and mouse ensues, what with Buraq wanting to capture and execute the Indian agents before they do him in.

Mallika Sood (Angira Dhar) and Armaan (Sumeet Thakur) are their liaison with British intelligence. The Indian government sends its best commando Karanveer Singh Dogra ( Vidyut Jammwal) and encounter specialist cop Bhavana Reddy (Adah Sharma) to London to ferret him out. Buraq Ansari ( Gulshan Devaiah) is a master manipulator settled in London who specializes in brainwashing the youth.
